Under 6-7 Teams in U6-7 comprise of mixed boys and girls and are based on
friendship groups. There is no grading of teams. Teams will be formed in the
first few weeks of training.
Coaches are known as team
leaders in these age groups.
The PHFC Technical Development team plan coaching sessions and resources to ensure consistency of sessions and support for all of our volunteer coaches. Coaches (usually parent volunteers) run the sessions. Parent helpers are invited to assist coaches to assist in the implementation of those sessions.
There are approximately 6-7
players in a team. Four players on the field at one time.
Teams play against other
clubs (Samford, Dayboro and Westside) every Saturday morning.
We ask parents to provide
encouragement and support to their child’s team. On game day, coaches help to ensure the
safety and well-being of children, try to ensure as equal playing time as
possible for all players and help to ensure parent support is positive and
measured.
All players must wear their
Pine Hills kit, football boots, shin pads on game day. They should either
bring or purchase from the canteen some water for half time. Games are played
on a Saturday morning.

PHFC Skills Academy for Player Development 2025
Players from U6 to U12 may choose to access the PHFC Skills Academy, run by PHFC U23 players Ryan Fisher and Aaron Langford.
This training is held on Tuesday afternoons each week in 2025 and will provide additional assistance for players to develop their skills on the pitch.
Skills Academy Focus - technical skills sessions will focus on ball mastery and the four core skills
1. First touch
2. Striking the ball
3. Running with the ball
4. 1v1
The cost of the Skills Academy is $60 per term and parents can choose 1, 2 or 3 terms for their child to attend. It will occur from week 2 to week 9 each term.
Sessions for the Skills Academy are held at either 4.30pm or 5.30pm with the selection of session made at the time of registration.
NOTE: This is an additional skills session and is not to replace weekly team training.
More information and the link to register for the PHFC Skills Academy for 2025 will be available soon.
U6-U12 Playing Format and Rules
Grading
It is important that players play in teams and against players of
similar ability, wherever possible. This promotes enjoyment and serves to keep
players involved in our sport for longer.
Sometimes parents find this difficult because they have built
friendships with other parents in the lower age groups. Occasionally players
find this difficult as well, for similar reasons. However, children find new
friends very quickly, and will enjoy their game more if they are playing in an
appropriately levelled competition.
Football
Queensland's competition structure is based on 3 divisional levels – Kangaroo, Wallaby and Quokkas. Kangaroo is the highest-level competition in these age
groups. Girls can play in all girls teams at PHFC from U8 upwards, or they may choose to remain in mixed teams with the boys.
Friendship requests will only be considered if there are two or more teams playing at the same level. Boys and girls are expected to train and play in their correct age group. Only in exceptional circumstances do we suggest children play in a higher age group. A common example is having to combine age groups to form a team in the higher age group. Team grouping for U6-8 players, plus grading for U9-12 Wallaby and Quokkas teams are conducted following the club registration days in the New Year. The Head of Football and coaches are informed in the grading process by coaching assessments from the previous year.
The Heads of Football nominate our teams for these divisions based on their levels of
ability.
Select teams (Kangaroo level)
From U8 to U12 Select team trials are organised at the end of each year. The Select teams are the best teams in each age group (U8 upwards) and compete in the highest level of competition the club can access. Usually they will be a
combination of external player trialists and players within the club who nominate/are
invited to trial.
We aim to finalise Select Teams before the end of the year, so those teams can commence
training immediately when school resumes in the New Year. Select Teams have already been selected for 2025.
Goalkeeper Development
|
Pine Hills FC provides goalkeeper
development from U8-U12.
Experienced coaches are used to
organise and deliver these sessions.
Players are grouped according to age
groups and then skill level where needed.
During this program we develop the
basic goalkeeper skills, including the various handling/catching and diving
techniques. We also look to improve the player’s footwork and agility.
Through these programs we hope to make
the football experience of the young player that much more enjoyable and give
them a love for the great game of football. In 2025, our U8-12 Goalkeeper Head Coach is Lucas Marciniak. These sessions will occur on Monday evenings, from 5:00pm-7pm. Goalkeepers will be rostered for their 30 minute, small group sessions during that period, to minimise the impact on their team training.
