Club Growth

Over the past five years, PHFC has seen incredible growth in female participation, reflecting our commitment to providing quality programs and opportunities for girls in football. The number of female players at our club has surged from 184 in 2021 to 324 in 2025 — a 76% increase. Our all-girls teams have more than doubled, growing from 11 teams to 23 across juniors and seniors. This remarkable growth has positioned PHFC as one of the leading clubs for female football in the region, now ranking 5th in South East Queensland for female participation. An achievement we are immensely proud of.

Forward to 2026

Looking ahead, our ultimate goal is to become a top 3 club for female participation in South East Queensland. However, our primary focus remains on retaining and developing the talented players we already have. We’re committed to creating a clear and supportive pathway that encourages girls to stay in the game and progress through to senior football, whether that’s in our Metro Women’s teams or at the FQPL level. By fostering a strong club culture, prioritising player wellbeing and providing quality coaching and development, we aim to ensure that every girl has the opportunity to continue her football journey into adulthood right here at PHFC.

Academy Program

PHFC is proud to announce that the club has been accepted into the Football Queensland Academy (FQA) structure for the 2026 season. As part of this program, our U11 and U12 girl’s teams will compete in the FQA2 league, while our U13-U17 girl’s teams will compete in the FQA3 league. Our Academy program will also include an U10 Girls Pre-Academy team and an U9 Girls Development team.

All Academy and Development teams will operate within our Advanced Player Development Pathway, providing a consistent and aligned approach to player growth and development across all age groups. Teams were finalised following trials held in October 2025, with the exception of the U9 Development team, which will be formed at a later date.

Further information on our Advanced Player Development Pathway can be found here.

Community Program

At PHFC, our Girls Community Program remains the foundation of female football at our club. While we are proud to be part of the FQA structure, we are equally committed to ensuring that every girl, regardless of experience, ability or ambition, has access to quality development opportunities and clear pathways within our club.

Our community program focuses on inclusive, age-appropriate coaching in a positive environment, supporting players who aspire to progress into our Academy teams as well as those who simply want to enjoy the game, develop skills and grow their love for football. PHFC is committed to providing meaningful pathways and development opportunities for players at all levels.

Each team within our Community program is supported by a volunteer head coach, assistant coach and team manager who are usually parents from within the team. Coaches are supported by the PFHC Technical team who can provide resources and assist coaches with session plans to ensure consistency of sessions.

·       Kookas (Ages 3-5). Kookas is a fun introduction to football skills through play-based activities. This program is suitable for girls and boys who have turned 3 and are up to the age of 5 in 2026. The Kookas program is held on Saturday mornings and will commence on 02 May 26. Further information on the Kookas program can be found here.

·       MiniRoos (U6-U7). Girls in these age groups play in mixed teams with boys, as the all-girls teams don’t commence until U8s. Teams are based on friendship groups and will be formed in the first few weeks of training. Training is once per week on Tuesdays 5pm-6pm and games are played on Saturday mornings. For the 2026 season, our U6 and U7 teams will be playing in our own in-house competition at PHFC.

·       MiniRoos (U8-U11) & U12s. The all-girls community teams commence in U8s. We aim to have at least one team in every age group. If we have more than one team in an age group, teams will be formed based on friendship groups, creating a fun and inclusive environment for young players to enjoy football with their peers. Teams play in the Football Qld (FQ) Metro North competition with games played on Saturdays.

·       Juniors (U13-U17). Competitive football commences in U13. It is still 9v9 on a smaller field but the offside rule now comes into play. U14 is the start of 11v11 on a full-size field. We aim to have one team in every age group, but there may be a requirement to combine age groups, pending final registration numbers. U13 teams will be required to undertake a FQ grading process in March to determine what division the team will play in. The Head of Female Football (HOFF) will determine the most appropriate division for U14s-U17s, based on overall team ability. Teams play in the FQ Metro North competition, with some teams playing teams on the South side of the river as well. Games can be on either Saturdays or Sundays.

Development Programs

Advanced Player Development Pathway. Designed specifically for our Academy, Pre-Academy and Development teams, our Advanced Player Development Pathway is overseen by our Football & Technical Directors and is for players who demonstrate strong potential and a desire to challenge themselves at a higher level. This pathway provides a structured environment that supports individual growth through advanced coaching, competitive opportunities and tailored development plans.

Further information can be found here.

Skills Academy. The Skills Academy is a ‘user pay’ system which runs throughout Terms 1-3. Sessions are on Thursdays and are open to all U6-13 PHFC players who want to further progress their skills. Sessions will focus on ball mastery and the four core skills:

1. First touch

2. Striking the ball

3. Running with the ball

4. 1v1

·       Session 1 – 4:45pm-5:40pm – U6-U9 – Perfect opportunity for players who only train once per week on Tuesdays who are keen to further develop their skills.

·       Session 2 – 5:45pm-6:40pm – U10-U13 – This session is more difficult for girls to attend due to a clash with their team training; however, is available for those wishing to attend the last 40mins straight after their training finishes.

Further information can be found here.

Holiday Clinics. PHFC offers mixed boys and girls clinics during all school holidays periods. These are ‘user pay’ sessions which have a similar focus as the Skills Academy; working on ball mastery and the four core skills.

Further information can be found here.

Goalkeeper Development. PHFC provides specific goalkeeper development training for U8-U17 players. Experienced coaches are used to organise and deliver these sessions. Players are grouped according to age groups and then skill level where needed. During this training, coaches develop the basic goalkeeper skills, including the various handling/catching and diving techniques. They also look to improve the player’s footwork and agility.

Goalkeeper training is offered at the following times:

·       Mondays – 5:45-6:15pm – Field 2 – U8-U13

·       Tuesdays – 5:15-6:00pm – Field 2 – U14-U17

·       Tuesdays – 6:15-7:00pm – Field 4 – U10-U13
